The Constitution is the rulebook for the US government. It tells the government what it can and cannot do. The enumerated powers are the specific things that the government is allowed to do. These powers are listed in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. It is important for us as citizens to know about the enumerated powers because they help to keep the government in check. If the government tries to do something not listed in the enumerated powers, then it is overstepping its authority. We can stop the government from doing this by speaking out and voting for representatives who will uphold the Constitution.
