Henry Knox was a Continental Army officer who played a key role in the American Revolution. He was known for his expertise in artillery and his role in transporting a train of cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in 1775. This feat, known as Knox's "Noble Train of Artillery," was essential to the American victory in the Siege of Boston.

Knox was born in Boston in 1750. He worked as a bookseller before joining the Continental Army in 1775. He quickly rose through the ranks and was appointed brigadier general in 1776. Knox served throughout the war and was present at many of the major battles, including Saratoga, Monmouth, and Yorktown.

After the war, Knox served as the first Secretary of War under President George Washington. He helped to establish the United States Army and Navy. Knox also played a key role in the development of the West Point military academy.

Knox died in 1806 at the age of 56. He is buried in Thomaston, Maine.
